Mariandrie (b.1989) is a visual interdisciplinary artist from Cyprus. She studied Fine Arts at the Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Art in Lancaster University, UK, and achieved an MA in Visual Arts in Education at the European University in Cyprus.
Her work revolves around a personal investigation of socio-political implications and the impact they have on our society. Her practice navigates between the realms of painting, installation art, and textiles. Her main interest is to provoke new understandings to the viewers and make them question their own biases and presumptions, as a way to find what is genuinely their own and what is a fabrication of their society and culture.
She has received an artist residency in Arthaus Lab in Cuba as part of the Havana Biennale 2019. She then developed an artist residency in the Memeraki organization in Cyprus in 2020. She is also the co-founder of ‘Arteries Foundation’, a non-profit institution for the promotion of contemporary culture. Mariandrie has exhibited in various group shows.
